Empowering Young Creatives: My Mission with House of Futures
House of Futures is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that’s truly close to my heart. I’m dedicated to unlocking the artistic potential of young people ages 7 to 18 from historically marginalized and underserved communities. I believe that arts education—and recognizing cosmetology as an art form—can open doors to self-discovery, career opportunities, and meaningful community connections.
The Challenge:
Young people from affluent backgrounds are 10 times more likely to pursue careers in the arts than those from underserved communities. This gap limits diversity in creative voices and perspectives. House of Futures works to level the playing field by offering immersive workshops led by working artists. These workshops provide:
Essential Skills: Technical and artistic training in makeup, hairstyling, and creative expression.
Mentorship: Connection with established professionals offering guidance and support.
Career Exploration: Insight into opportunities within the beauty and arts industries.
Community Building: A space to belong and connect with like-minded peers.
