The 24 hours before your headshot matter more than the session.
What to do, and what to skip, before you sit down.
Most people spend hours choosing the outfit and zero minutes on the day before the session. That's backwards.
Here's what shows up on camera, and what to do about it:
Sleep. Nothing in my kit beats it. Tired skin looks gray and flat on camera.
Go easy on salt and alcohol the night before. Both show up as puffiness around the eyes.
Drink water the day before, not just that morning. Hydrated skin takes makeup and light better.
Lay out two outfit options. Solid colors photograph cleanest. Skip busy patterns.
Arrive with clean, moisturized skin. Skip the heavy products and let me build the base.
And yes, executives get makeup for headshots, men included. You won't see it in the photo. It evens out your tone and controls shine, so you look like you on a good day, not like someone else.
