Honoring Edna Lewis and her Culinary Legacy

Emmy-nominated (Historical/Cultural. Short‑Form Content) Finding Edna Lewis is a heartfelt documentary celebrating one of America’s culinary legends.

I worked ask hair & makeup artist for Nicole Taylor on this project and makeup approach mirrored the film’s intention: warmth, truth, and quiet dignity. Inspired by Edna’s Virginia roots and archival portraits, we focused on skin-first techniques, dewy cheeks, gentle shadows, and natural lips. It wasn’t about drawing attention, but about shining light on what already existed.

Working with Deb Freeman and Field Studio, the team created a space where every detail felt woven together, costume, lighting, hair, and makeup, all coming alive in respectful harmony. Being part of a project that not only honors Edna’s legacy but now carries the possibility of an Emmy nod is deeply humbling.
