The Preventative Era: Facelifts in Your 20s and the New Extreme

A birthday month reflection on aging, surgery, and real texture.

Let’s just pull the curtain all the way back, because the cosmetic world is doing some wild things behind closed doors right now. We aren't just talking about a little touch of preventative baby Botox anymore. Girls in their early 20s are completely bypassing the needles and skipping straight to the operating table for actual midplane facelifts and surgical pull-backs to snatch their jawlines permanently.

Wait, y'all are doing WHAT at 24?!

Now, look—I am a luxury beauty expert, not a judge in a courtroom. The choice is entirely yours, and I am a firm believer in doing whatever makes you look and feel like the baddest, most confident version of yourself. If a tweakment makes you happy, get your tuck, babe! No judgment, ever.

But I do deeply wrestle with this collective social panic that tells us we shouldn't age, or that changing bodies and shifting features are something undesirable. Getting older, gaining volume, and evolving into your structure is a beautiful, opulent gift.

And from a pure artistry standpoint, this extreme preventative perfection introduces a real challenge. When you surgically smooth out every line early on, the skin loses those tiny, natural movements that make a face look human and real. If you layer a heavy, matte, bake-heavy makeup look on top of a face that’s already been perfectly pulled taut? You instantly land in wax-museum territory. It looks stiff, flat, and honestly, quite dated. True style isn't about fighting the architecture of your season; it's about keeping the skin raw, bouncy, and completely alive so the room has no choice but to adjust to your presence.
